It's day 22 of the Master Cleanse for me and I have surgery on my elbow next Wednesday. It's the Wednesday before Thanksgiving to be exact. I have to have my bicep sewn back to my bone using a screw with eyelets as the anchor. the whole procedure takes about an hour, but the full recover should take three months. My tongue has already gained it's original pink color, a sign that my body has finished detoxing. You see, at the onset of the MC the tongue turns white, and stays white for whatever reason, until the body does it's thing and detoxes it's impurities and such. This morning my tongue seemed close to pink, but the back of my tongue still looks white. I want to continue it though. At least ten more days. Limes were on sale this weekend at the Wal-Mart Super center, and I bought forty of them -- enough for ten more days of this stuff. Also, I have discovered that I prefer the taste of limes better than lemons for this concoction. The limes I bought were huge too, but they were not organic. I also bought a freezer full of veggies on sale at Kroger's. I got chopped spinach, chapped broccoli, chopped Italian string beans, stir fry combo and baby Lima beans. I bought over forty bags! Ten bags for ten dollars -- half their normal price. I am ready to eat again. But I want to finish my limes first. Ten more days. Surgery. Will it be a problem for me? I won't be able to go to the gym, so what can I do to hold the line against obesity? You know, it occurred to me the other night that a long time ago before the age of vitamins and supplements, sea faring men would eat limes to stave off scurvy. Limes should be considered a super food if it is capable of such things, because what they were really saying is that limes are a form of vitamin only it doesn't make your urine glow that bright yellow color, which leads me to believe that the nutrients in lemons and limes are fully absorbed into the bloodstream, rather than being passed through the body. In this light I think that staying on the MC even after my surgery shouldn't pose a problem for me and might be beneficial. Also, it's almost a guarantee that I wont get sick during this recovery time as well, and one thing I want to avoid at all costs is unnecessary infection and sickness. Most people would disagree with me without giving it any thought. They would tell me to eat lots of red meat and fish and eggs and milk to help aid in my muscle recovery. At the very least I will try to get through this batch of limes and see what happens. Will it hinder my recovery time? Perhaps, but it beats risking an infection.
